Most 7-segment displays actually have 8 segments, with a dot on the right side of the digit that serves as a decimal point. Seven segment displays consist of 7 LEDs, called segments, arranged in the shape of an “8”. Also, we would like to point out that these displays have no need for Ground, 5V, or 3.3V to be connected.īefore we start working with 4-digit-7- segment displays, we need to understand some of the basics of 7-segment display and how to control them. This types of displays mostly have 12 breakout pins that connect either directly to the Arduino, or through a resistor. Assemble the circuit as shown in the figure below.
